South African holidays - sights and activities - Holiday Types
Backpackers love the independence, budget and friendliness backpacking offers. With budget accommodation and a relaxed setting, backpacker's hostels are often the ideal holiday accommodation for the younger international traveller. South Africa is a fantastic backpacker's destination, satisfying its clients (usually 18 - 35) needs.
Hostels and lodges are not just about fun, but are clean and efficiently run with sleeping options of a dorm, single or double room (with adjusted prices). Expect to pay (in the regions of) R75 per night per dorm, R200 per single and R250 per double room for a night while more luxurious en suite options can cost per night R300.
Most establishments are self-catering with complimentary coffee and tea, has a cash bar, public phone and Internet services, pools and laundry facilities.
Venues are mostly part of a supportive network and the traveller can make spontaneous arrangements from one establishment to another.
