Africa, Kenya

Namibia and Africa - Africa

Kenya is rich in wildlife, enjoys a tropical climate with hot and humid weather on the Indian Ocean coast and its inland highlands are temperate.  Kenya attracts many of the African visitors for the Masai Mara migration spectacle, luxury accommodation and wealth of game reserves.  Malaria is a concern - make sure to ask your GP about precautions.

The highlands are bisected by the Western Great Rift Valley which is fertile and a successful agricultural region. Mount Kenya, the 2nd highest point of Africa at 5,199 meters is also host to glaciers and the climate caries from an arid centre to tropical coast-line.

Temperatures vary between 20 - 35 degrees at all times, February - March being the hottest and July and August the coolest months. During October to December you will experience what is called the short rain period, with the long rain period occurring from April to June.

In Kenya you can view the Masai Mara where the spectacular annual migration of the blue wildebeest takes place. Additionally one will find lions, leopards, elephants, rhino and buffalo here. National parks and game reserves are of course rich in all wild life and bird life.

Kenyan cities include Mombasa, Nairobi, Eldoret, Lodwar and Mandera.

Kenya fits the mental picture foreign visitors have of Africa... She's wild and beautiful with abundant wildlife, tropical beaches and ongoing coastlines. Much of this wildlife appears in the Kenya's famous National Parks of Masai Mara, Tsavo, Amboseli, and Lake Nakuru.

Yet, the main attraction for this African country of Kenya must be the Great wildebeest and zebra migration from (and back to) Tanzania's Serengeti to Kenya's Masai Mara. The Kenyan traveller can view this amazing sight through Wildlife Safaris and air balloons plus many lodges are situated so perfectly that you may have great views from your own veranda!

This African country is also renowned for its friendly people and luxury accommodation which include wonderful mobile tented camps, lodges and hotels.
